How to read the result

An issuance lookup comes back as one of four results. Unless it was issued as an approved transaction, you cannot use it as evidence as-is.

Issued as an approved transaction

The National Tax Service has a record of this issuance and no cancellation. You can use it as evidence as-is.

Issued as an approved transaction, with a cancellation on record

A cancellation followed the issuance. The result shows the cancelled amount and cancellation date the National Tax Service provides. When no amount is provided, the result only notes that a cancellation occurred. For a partial cancellation, subtract it from the transaction amount yourself.

Issued as a cancellation transaction

The approval number you looked up belongs to a cancellation transaction. It differs from the approval number of the original transaction.

No record found

If any one of the four values differs, you get this result. Cash receipts appear in the lookup from around 9 a.m. the day after issuance, so allow time for a receipt you got yesterday or later.

What this lookup covers

What this covers

  • All four values must match to confirm issuance. If any one differs, the result reports no record.
  • This lookup cannot tell you how much remains after a cancellation. The National Tax Service provides only the fact and the cancelled amount, so calculate the remainder yourself for a partial cancellation.
  • Cash receipts appear in the National Tax Service lookup from around 9 a.m. the day after issuance. Before then, even a valid receipt reports no record.
  • Lookups pause when the National Tax Service is busy. This is a queue rather than an outage, so try again shortly.
  • Treat the result as a reference. Before recording an expense or claiming a deduction, re-check on Hometax.

About the Cash receipt verification

Is cash receipt verification free?

Yes. It is free and requires no sign-in. It checks one receipt at a time.
