Result

Enter a business registration number and press Check status.

How to read the result

A business registration status comes back as one of four results.

Active

The business registration is live with the National Tax Service. The result also shows the tax type, such as general taxpayer, simplified taxpayer, or tax-exempt business.

Suspended

The business has paused. Its registration remains, and no tax type is shown.

Closed

The business registration has been cancelled. The result includes the closure date, and you cannot exchange tax invoices with a closed business.

Not registered

This is not a business registration number known to the National Tax Service. Check the digit count and typos first.

What this lookup covers

What this covers

  • Looks up business registration numbers registered with the National Tax Service. Resident registration numbers and corporate registration numbers cannot be looked up.
  • Tax type appears only for active businesses. The National Tax Service does not provide it for suspended or closed businesses.
  • The business registration number you enter is used only for the National Tax Service lookup, and the result is kept so the next lookup of the same number can reuse it.
  • Treat the result as a reference. Before issuing a tax invoice or signing a contract, re-check the original registration certificate or Hometax.

FAQ

About the Business status lookup

Is the business status lookup free?

Yes. It is free and requires no sign-in. It checks one number at a time.

How is this different from the Hometax lookup?

It reads the same data the National Tax Service provides. You enter only the number instead of opening Hometax. If the results differ, re-check on the Hometax business status screen.

How current is the result?

It uses data the National Tax Service refreshes every 30 minutes. A business registered or closed today takes one to two days to appear.

What is the difference between suspended and closed?

Suspended means the business has paused but its registration is still active. Closed means the registration has been cancelled. You cannot exchange tax invoices with a closed business.

Can I tell whether the business is a general or simplified taxpayer?

For an active business the result includes the tax type. It shows the National Tax Service wording as-is, such as 일반과세자 (general taxpayer), 간이과세자 (simplified taxpayer), or 면세사업자 (tax-exempt business).

Does it show the closure date?

If the business is closed, the closure date is shown. Active and suspended businesses have no closure date.

Can I find the company name or representative from the number?

No. The National Tax Service status lookup returns only the status and tax type for a number, not the company name or representative.

Can I check dozens of counterparties at once?

This tool checks one at a time. Register counterparties in Bolta and their status is checked once on registration and again when you issue a tax invoice.

How is the number I enter used?

It is used only for the National Tax Service lookup. The number and result are kept so the next lookup of the same number can reuse them.

Register a counterparty and Bolta checks its status for you

Bolta checks the National Tax Service registration status once on registration and again when you issue a tax invoice.
